Pony Club Horsemasters' Testings
Share |

Horsemasters members may be new to Pony Club or have previously participated as a Youth member. For the Horsemasters members who were a previous Pony Club member, they enter into the Horsemasters membership with the highest Certification (rating) that they had earned. As a Horsemasters member they can continue to advance through the levels.

The Horsemasters Standards of Proficiency mirror the youth Standards except they have a volunteer section at the D-1 and D-2 levels. Horsemasters can advance beyond the local level and achieve national level certifications.

At mounted and unmounted meetings Horsemasters members work to learn the topics outlined in the SOP’s.

Some Horsemasters choose to gain certification, some join simply for the opportunity to learn and enjoy riding with their friends. D Level certifications (D-1, D-2, D-3) offer an introduction to the fun challenge of riding, establishing a foundation of safety habits and knowledge of the daily care of a horse. The D-level member should be riding independently on the flat with control maintaining a reasonably secure position at the walk, trot and canter.

At the C Level certifications (C-1, C-2) the Horsemasters member is learning to become an active horseman, caring independently for his/her mount and tack. Focus on more independence in horse management as well as developing increased control and confidence in riding are studied. There is an emphasis on advancement and evaluation of the Horse Management skills as well as showing development towards a secure, independent seat and increasing control and confidence in all phases of riding.

Beginning in 2016 Horsemasters can advance beyond the local level (D-1 – C-2) and achieve national level certifications (H-B – A).
