PONY CLUB PARTNERS WITH NAJYRC PARTICIPANTS AT PONY CLUB FESTIVAL

Lexington, KY, April 18, 2011—Pony Club is partnering with The North American Junior and Young Riders Championships (NAJYRC) to promote education regardless of discipline. All competitors at NAJYRC are invited to participate in the Education Portion of Pony Club Festival! July 23-26, 2011. Pony Club will host clinics with great clinicians and all sorts of unmounted workshops. For the first time, these educational opportunities will be available to Young Rider participants whether or not they are Pony Club members.

"I am excited about these two wonderful youth programs working together to further educate young people in their love of horses, whatever discipline that might be”stated Connie Jehlik, Instruction Director for The United States Pony Clubs. Mounted programs will consist of an exciting menu of discipline clinics taught by a wide variety of excellent clinicians all active in their fields and chosen for their excellent teaching skills. Many are Pony Club graduates, and past Young Riders themselves.

About Festival—Festival is a week-long celebration of Pony Club that brings together more than 4,000 Pony Club members from across the country. Its purpose is to provide a National Championships competition combined with a unique educational learning experience. A host of outstanding clinics, both mounted and unmounted, are available during the Education portion of Festival.

About NAJYRC-- The NAJYRC is the premier equestrian competition in North America for junior and young riders, age 14-21. Young equestrians come from the United States, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean Islands to vie for team and individual FEI medals in the three Olympic equestrian disciplines of show jumping, dressage, eventing and the FEI World Equestrian Games disciplines of reining and endurance. Many of North America's best equestrians who now regularly represent their country on Olympic, World Championship and Nations Cup teams got their first taste of International experience at NAJYRC. These include Olympic medalists Karen O'Connor, and Chris Kappler who are also Pony Club graduates.

About Pony Club—The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC) was founded in 1954 as a nonprofit national youth organization to teach riding and horsemanship through a formal educational program. Many of the nation's top equestrians, including many of our Olympic team members, have roots in Pony Club. Members range in age from as young as 4 through age 25. There are approximately 10,000 members in 600 clubs and riding centers in 43 regions throughout the country. Pony Club is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky http://www.ponyclub.org/.
