World Class Youth Compete at the Kentucky Horse Park

March 25, 2014 (Lexington, KY) – This summer, the Kentucky Horse Park will host two major youth equestrian events in the same week! The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. will be holding USPC Festival on July 14-21, while the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships Presented by Gotham North (Young Riders) will be held on July 15-20, 2014.

“We are excited to be sharing the Kentucky Horse Park this year with the North American Junior and Young Rider competition,” stated Wayne Quarles, Activities Director at USPC. “This will be an amazing week of world class youth competition unparalleled anywhere in the world.”

Hosting these two top competitions at the same venue is a large undertaking. But by working together, more than 1500 young people will participate in this unique Festival of Youth, giving participants a first-hand experience of team competition similar to Olympic competition. The organizers of both see this as a great opportunity to share experiences and give both groups a chance to learn more about their respective programs. Members from both organizations are encouraged to take time to watch the other competition. NAJYRC competitors are invited to stay past their competition to participate in the educational portion of USPC Festival. Organizers are comparing schedules to find time for a group social activity to promote interaction between rounds of competition.

North American Junior and Young Rider Championships (NAJYRC) – is the premier equestrian competition in North America for junior and young riders, age 14-21. Young equestrians vie for team and individual FEI medals in the three Olympic equestrian disciplines of show jumping, dressage, and eventing, and the FEI World Equestrian Games disciplines of reining and endurance. The competition is run under rules of the FEI (Federation Equestre Internationale), the international governing body for equestrian sport, and is the only FEI championship held annually on this continent. http://www.youngriders.org/
